Yuck - Gross
The Yuck Gross camp starts today and is for children who love creepy, crawly, slimy, slippery creatures of nature. The Camp will be run at the outpost and will last until July 8th.

Lancaster Presbyterian Camp
Lancaster Presbyterian is starting their summer camp today, which will run through July 3rd. This is the first full week camp of 2009.

Spring workdays
These past two weekends, the Boy Scouts and other volunteers have painted the inside and outside of Janeway Dining Hall. Behr paint donated 16 gallons to get the job done.
Also the swimming raft was installed this weekend. The ceiling was replaced in the outpost bathroom and firewood was cut for the upcoming year.

Open House
Open House events will be held at Camp Duffield on May 24, June 7, and June 21. Those are Sundays from 1-4. If you would like to see the camp on any of these days, the camp will be open. Please email karen.tanner@campduffield.org to let us know that you are coming.

Brisket and Basket
Brisket and Basket is a dinner and Chinese auction to benefit Camp Duffield. The event will take place on May 2nd, at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church with the doors opening at 5:00pm.

Annual Meeting of Duffield Camp and Retreat Center will be January 26, 2008 at 6 pm at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. The purpose of the Meeting is to elect the Board of Trustees, Highlight our past year and dream of the future. Dinner will be served and all are welcome.

Camp developments
Camp Duffield held a meeting on Monday, November 17th. At the meeting a few announcements were made.
- A 8 page colour brochure has been created that will be printed and distributed over the next few weeks.
- The health Department Permit for weekend use in 2009 has been recieved
- Currently there are plans for 20 camps for the summer of 2009

October workday
A big thanks to the many who turned out on our Oct. 4 work day. Thanks to all for improving the camp.

- New metal roof for Outpost restroom
- Installed power and telephone poles
- Installed new light fixtures in Janeway
- Cleared trees close to the building to protect the roofs
- Cleared tree that had fallen on the porch of Cabin 1
- Cleared tree on the road (lots of chain saw work)
- Cut vines that were strangling trees
- Cut and stacked a lot of firewood
- Met with professional forester on how to manage the woodland
- Filled the big pot hole
- Planned out the summer camps for 2009
- Packed up medical supplies
- Ate a fantastic lunch

Puchase complete

Another Duffield Work Day in July
You will be happy to note in your calendar that July 12th has been set aside as another fun work day at The Duffield Camp and Retreat Center (from 8 to 4pm).
We will be looking for individuals and teams that would like to learn how to improve trails, cut back overhanging branches, identify flora and fauna, paint the back room of craft lodge and steps at Keeler , scrub out Janeway, the kitchen has been done, cut down trees, haul trees to cutting and splitting area, cut up logs, split same, stack firewood, set some telephone poles, take a swim, dine at Janeway and go home knowing that you have accomplished something during the day.
To allow the courtesy of figuring out how many hamburgers to make please drop Chet Seymour (Chet.Seymour@campDuffield.org) an e-mail or a call.
