Lancaster Presbyterian kicks off Summer Camp

Lancaster Presbyterian Church is kicking off their summer camp tonight at Duffield. The camp will run through July 3rd.

Discover Duffield kickoff event coming up

Just a reminder that the Discover Duffield event is coming up on Saturday, May 17th. The free event runs from 4 to 10 and includes dinner, campfire, and live music by Elmwood Drive.

The Bowling Bash was a success

The Bowling Bash was a great success as we had lots of fun, made a little money and left everyone wanting more. Thanks to everyone who came out and had a good time.

Intensity Camporee on May 24th

On Saturday May 24th Camp Duffield is opening up for the Intensity Camporee, which features a full day of activity for kids aged 8-12 and their families.

Camp Duffield Bowling Bash

Once again Camp Duffield is sponsoring a bowling bash at the Tonawanda Bowling Center. This year's event is being held on Sunday March 23rd from 2-4.

The Board adapted a new logo in December 2013 to add a white cross to the tree.

Sally Roth, the Challenge Camp craft lady

Sally Roth, best know as "the craft lady" for the Challenge Camp died last month. She had volunteered every year for the past 40 years and over the years, brought every family member out to do the same- now including her grandchildren. She donated $1000 to begin the process of making the camp accessible. Donations of almost another $1000 have been sent in her memory to be put into the "Accessibility Fund". We will miss her.

Duffield Summer Kick-off Event

On Sat, May 17th from 5:00pm to 11:00pm, Camp Duffield will host a evening of live music, food and fun times. There will be twilight tours, s'mores, and much more. Save the date and leep your eyes open for more information to come. This event is open to everyone

Winter Fun for the Whole Family!

Cabins are available for rental all winter. Keeler Lodge also has some weekends still available. 

Hope you will come out sometime this winter and enjoy the snow and winter wonderland of the woods.

October 5th, wood-cutting get together

We have selected October 5th as the day to cut, split, transport and stack firewood for the winter and spring at Duffield. Arriving at the camp about 8 AM you will find a selected crew of leaders who will escort you to the areas most in need.

We Need:

• Skilled chain saw operators with saws.
• Home style chain saw operators who will work with the skilled operators, also with saws.
• Operators of the wood splitters. We can have two available.
• Loaders and unloaders for the splitters.
• Drivers who will haul wood chunks to the splitters.
• Drivers who will deliver split wood to the camp fire areas.
• Drivers who will snake logs out of the woods hopefully with their ATV`s.
• Stackers who will stack the Keeler wood shed until it is full.
• Stackers who will stack split wood at Janeway, Outpost, Cabin area, baseball area.
• Sandwich makers who will assemble sandwiches.
• Food servers who will make sure all are fed and can make coffee.

What to bring? A good pair of gloves, safety glasses, hard hat (if you have one) work shoes, jackets “light/heavy”, ATV

Please contact us to let us know if you can help fulfill any of the above positions. Currently we have four large trees on the ground to be sliced and split and will have several more felled that day.

Renting all year long - no matter how much snow we may get!

We can now rent out heated modern Duffield Cabins ALL fall and winter for FAMILIES or smaller youth groups. There are 6 cabins available. Cabins can sleep 1 to 12 people and have two bathrooms and 2 showers. The cost is $25/person/night. Another cabin can be used if you need one to meet in. Each cabin will have a small apartment size refrigerator, small microwave, coffee maker, and electric outlets for crockpot or other electric ways to cook small meals. Come and get away overnight during the week or on the weekend. But hurry! Weekends fill up fast!

Women: Disciples of Christ OCT 11-13, 2013

This is an annual retreat for women of any age and any denomination held at Camp Duffield. This year the women from St. Paul's Lutheran Church will be planning the retreat. We are excited to have all the women come together and learn and worship the Lord this weekend. We look forward to meeting everyone.

Carol says, “I am just a girl who is head over heels in love with Jesus ... passionately addicted to His Word ... and find all of the joy that I need in time spent in His presence." Carol is an author and popular speaker at women's conferences and retreats, where she teaches the Word of God with great joy and enthusiasm. She also hosts highly successful Just Joy! outreaches. Carol encourages and empowers women with passionate and practical biblical messages mixed with her own special brand of hope and humor.

Operation Christmas Child

We will be filling boxes up to help Samaritan's Purse send shoe-boxes all over the world to children in third world countries. We will be providing the boxes and we ask that you would bring small items to fill them with! We will also accept donations to use toward postage for the boxes. Our goal is to do 25 boxes. The boxes can be for ages 2-14 and we will be doing boxes for girls. You can go to samaritanspurse.org and click on the Operation Christmas Child link to see a list of what you can bring.

Times 
Registration is at 6:00 pm and the program starts at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 11th, so please ensure that you're leaving enough travel time to join us by then. Come on down and get ready to relax and decompress at Camp Duffield. We leave straight after worship before lunch on Sunday, so you should be home early in the day.

Fall retreats are coming!

There are both Men's and Women's retreats coming up in the next few months!  September 20-22nd, join the men of St. Paul Lutheran for a manly weekend of fellowship and diving into God's word. The women will be taking over the camp during Columbus Day weekend in October (11-13th).  For more information on both of these retreats,  e-mail CampDuffield@gmail.com. 

Also coming this fall, another Bowling Bash at the Tonawanda Bowling Center on Youngs St. In Tonawanda.  Sunday, October 20 from 2-4 pm; come and visit with all your friends that you made this summer, and bring some more friends too!

New Camper Mailing Address

If you would like to send a letter to your child while they are at camp, we have a new address for you. Instead of having a PO Box in town, we now have a mailbox right at the end of our camp road. Our camper mailing address now matches our physical address:

Please be sure to address your letters to your camper's first and last name to avoid confusion. Please also include a return address, in case delivery is delayed and the letter arrives after camp has ended. Remember to take into account a day or two for delivery, and that several of our camps are ending on a Friday this year.

New this year at Camp Duffield

New this year at Camp Duffield is the bouldering wall. Built between the pond and the Craft Cabin, this wall will challenge camper's strength and balance.

Spring Work day

Camp Duffield is having a work day on May 11th to prepare for the upcoming summer season. Additionally, this workday will include the construction of a brand new playground and bouldering wall. This is a significant project so any help that can be lended would be greatly appreciated.

Gil Massey - a great man of God

This Monday, the angels in heaven welcomed another soul home, Gil Massey of Arcade was Duffield's caretaker and maintenance man for the past 12 years. He was a wonderful man of God, and loved to take care of the camp. He taught the staff members how to properly plunge a toilet, how to drive the tractor, and he never tolerated misuse of paper products. Though he didn't have much direct contact with the campers, Gil helped out the ministry in his own way, and made life at camp that much easier for everyone there. Gil passed away due to complications with cancer, something he had been struggling with for the past few years. A service is being planned for early March, with more details to come.

Annual Duffield Dinner

Join us on Monday January 28st for the fourth annual meeting of the new Camp Duffield. A dinner will be served at 6:00 PM with a short corporate annual meeting to follow. Bring a friend, family or just yourself. The dinner will be chicken ala king and tossed salad followed by our famous hot fudge sundae. For your reservation please call Chet Seymour at 863-7623 or the Orchard Park church office at 662-9348. All are welcome. A thank you jar will be at the exit based upon your appreciation of the evening.

Father and Son Intensity 24 Camporee

All fathers and sons (ages 9,10, and 11) are invited to a 24 hour Camporee at Camp Duffield. Planned activities are archery, canoeing, fire building contest, wilderness adventure, capture the flag and fishing. The event will occur Friday May 17th and end on Saturday May 18th. Cost is $60 per family. Volunteers are needed as well. Limited to first 60 boys. Great opportunity for quality time with your son.
